Twisted, bent, discarded metal and other media shapes as well as fabricated designs often find their way into D Lester's sculptures. Most often, these shapes cannot be duplicated. This creates a one of a kind sculpture with unique, interesting shapes and design, lending excitement and fun to his works. Williams originally studied welding for heavy construction equipment industry, gradually transferring his interest in welding into an art form.
For over fifty years D Lester has turned out lively, whimsical and humorous sculptures. Some selected sculptures use rust patina as a finish, others are painted in vibrant colors. Other media is also used to accent his sculptures such as powder coating, brass, copper, and even concrete and other secret products.
A California native, Williams taught welding and metal sculpturing for over seven years at Creative Arts Group in Sierra Madre, also served on the board for the Monrovia Arts Festival Association. His sculpture have been displayed in many galleries and in Southern California art shows. Many of his sculptures are in private collections from Iowa to So-Cal. Currently D Lester is specializing in commission, outdoor and garden art. Williams resides and works in Arcadia, California.
