Metal, has been in the ground and rocks since the beginning of the earth. Man comes along, digs up these rocks, crushes and heats them to extract a molten metal product. Pouring it into various shapes, pressing, hammering, stretching and drawing over mandrels to create an end metal product. This is where D Lester steps in, having fun with these shapes and metals to create, exciting, whimsical, large and small metal works of art. Forming, assembling, fabricating, welding, flame and plasma cutting, as well as using different fasteners, and various patinas, painting, or powder coating. All these processes manage to find their way into his creative sculptures.

Hand hammered metal hands, with hammered and shaped copper hearts, using clear plastic coating on finished product. This small sculpture was conceived by D Lester, as a tribute for a friend that passed away. She was heavily involved in the arts as well as promoting and establishing galleries and many artist careers.

Fabricated, hand hammered and welded metal, with a natural oxidation patina as a finish. D Lester assembled this envisioned sculpture as a whimsical piece. Adding a little humor and fun with a wristwatch, friendship bracelet, stars on the fingernails and of course a dragonfly.
